Prayer at Regina Angelorum Academy
Regina Angelorum Academy is a private, independent Catholic grade school. As a school community, we are faithful to the teachings of the Catholic church. We believe that our primary responsibility is to point children towards Heaven. This is a sacred trust we have received from the parents of our students, and we make every effort to honor this commitment. Daily prayer is a part of school life at Regina Angelorum Academy and is the anchor of a student’s day.
Through daily prayer, we can help students build a lifelong habit of prayer and devotion that nurtures their relationship with God and allows them space to discern and seek God’s will for their lives. Regular prayer strengthens our faith, and by offering this opportunity to pray together each day, students develop the intentional habit of looking to God for guidance, expressing gratitude, and experiencing peace. Also, Morning Prayer at Regina Angelorum Academy offers the opportunity to pray for others and their intentions as a school community.
Morning Prayer
At Regina Angelorum Academy, we gather as a community at Morning Forum to pray together. The prayers and hymns change during the year to reflect the liturgical calendar. During Ordinary Time, our hymns and prayers are generally the same, however there are changes at times to reflect the Month of the Holy Rosary and the month of the Holy Souls. In Advent, the opening hymn changes to O Come, O Come, Emmanuel, and the Canticle of Zachariah is recited instead of Psalm 23. During Lent, we sing the Sabat Mater and read a variety of Psalms.

Prayer to St. Michael
St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle, be our

Saint of the Day
Precepts of St. John Bosco
St. John Bosco, the patron saint of youth, was known for educating the poor and founding the Salesian order. He believed that education was more than schooling, but a path to holiness. As a priest, he provided young boys with an education, religious instruction, and recreation. Regina Angelorum Academy’s approach is aligned with these three areas along with the pursuit of truth through a classical education. St. John Bosco’s precepts help our teachers and students to stay rooted. While simple, the following phrases we recite daily, offer strength in their holistic approach, and grounding in reason, faith, and kindness.

Noon Prayer
During lunch, students pray the Angelus and Grace Before Meals. The prayer is based on the Annunciation when the Angel Gabriel visited the Virgin Mary to announce that she would conceive and bear the Son of God.

The Angel of the Lord declared unto Mary.
And she conceived of the Holy Spirit.
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Closing Prayer
Before dismissal, we pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet as a school. This prayer is based on revelations received by St. Faustina and emphasizes God’s mercy and forgiveness.

Opening Prayer:
Eternal Father, I offer You the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your dearly beloved Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.
For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.
(Repeat 10 times.)
Closing Prayer:
Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world.
Students at Regina Angelorum Academy also nurture their prayer life at school by praying the Rosary. They also attend Mass twice monthly as a school, participate in Eucharistic Adoration, and pray the Lectio Divina. Together, students and teachers look to the Saints to imitate their life of prayer and sacrifice as a means of growing closer to Christ.
